Round table “Specialist of the new generation: financial institutions” took place in Saint-Petersburg on September 16th. The event attended by more than 50 top executives from the leading banks of the North-West region was organized by Morgan Hunt, BI TO BE Consulting Group and Vodokanal St. Petersburg.
Olga Selivanova-Shoff, CEO, Morgan Hunt, set up the focus of the event comparing banking sphere in Russia and in the West.
The discussion ran in the World Café format, presented by Natalia Borovikova, Regional Project Coordinator, “Staff Reserve – Professional Team of the Country”, Scientific Supervisor, BI TO BE Consulting Group. Topic for discussion was suggested by Julia Krizhevich, Director of Morgan Hunt in Saint-Petersburg. Julia presented the results of the Morgan Hunt 2009 survey “Education and practice. The view of business: banking”. Over 100 banking top executives took part in the poll.
The survey has shown that the core competencies of the new generation manager are the following: communications skills, ability to analyze information, flexibility of thinking and broad outlook, team work skills, non-standard decision making, strategic thinking and leadership.
The discussion moderated by Natalia Borovikova was aimed to answer two questions – “How to recognize these competencies?” and “How to develop them?” The round table is only the first step, and the participants will continue working after the event. The results of the work will be passed to the Saint-Petersburg Interregional Resource Centre, the scientific partner of the project, and afterwards to the deans of the leading Saint-Petersburg universities.
